You can use this technique for other cylindrical vegetables like cucumber. With a little practice, you can learn how to dice carrots quickly when preparing ingredients for our recipes.

There are two videos in this article. I prefer to use the whole carrot, so I do not cut perfect cubes as a rule. However, when you want to impress some guests, you can quickly make diced carrot cubes. You will discard more of the carrot, but your presentation quality will be improved.

Tools needed

To quickly peel and dice carrots, you need:

  • A sharp kitchen knife
  • A vegetable peeler

To quickly dice carrots for cooking:

  1. Start with a sharp kitchen knife.
  2. Using the knife, trim the top and tail ends of the carrot.
  3. Use the vegetable peeler to peel the carrot.
  4. Then, cut the carrot in half, or for longer carrots, into thirds.
  5. Next, cut the halves into sticks.
  6. Finally, group the sticks together and chop crosswise.

Dice carrots into cubes for fancy presentation

This technique is a little wasteful and takes longer. However, when you want to impress friends and guests with nicely cubed carrots, use this technique to do so quickly.

How to dice carrots into cubes

To quickly dice carrots into cubes:

  1. Start with a sharp kitchen knife.
  2. Using the knife, trim the top and tail ends of the carrot.
  3. Peel the carrot using a vegetable peeler.
  4. Cut the carrot in half, or for longer carrots, into thirds.
  5. Then, cut the halves into sticks.
  6. Trim the rounded edges off the sticks so that they are square.
  7. Finally, group the sticks together and chop crosswise.

Eat the trimmed edges for a healthy snack, so they do not go to waste.
