Jing’s Learning Journey

Jing’s learning journey is a long story, filled with hardships and challenge, and the power of optimism and friendship.

Jing lost her father at age five. Her mother worked very hard to provide for her. However, Jing’s education was interrupted at age 15, when her mother became ill, and later passed away. With no one to pay her high school tuition, she had to find what work she could. She ended up working in a factory, 12 hours per day, 29 days out of 30, for subsistence wages. Her experience is common in China.

Jing and I started My Chinese Home Kitchen so that she could earn money to finish her education, and learn technical skills.

I am very pleased that she took the first step toward completing her education on September 1, 2021. Jing is now enrolled at a premier cuisine school, New Oriental Cooking School in Hefei, Anhui. This has been her dream since she was a child. I am proud of her perseverance and determination and positive attitude.

On this page you will find periodic updates about Jing’s learning journey.
