Hi, everybody. I’m Chen Jing, do you know that my dream is to be a super chef? If you have read My Chinese Home Kitchen, you will know that I like Chinese food and I want to be a Chinese chef. But dreams are not just dreams, I have a firm heart to realize dreams. I know there is a famous cooking school in China, New Oriental Cooking School, that is where I want to learn.

Admission to New Oriental Cooking School

On September 1, 2021, I officially became a student of China New Oriental Cooking School. My appearance surprised my teacher a little, because in China, few women learn Chinese cuisine. Cooking Chinese cuisine is physically tiring and hot. Therefore, most of the female students in New Oriental chose western food and pastry majors. But my teacher encouraged me. He hoped that I had a firm determination to make my choice and would work hard and persevere for it. On the day I enrolled in school, he asked me: “Do you like Chinese cuisine?” My answer is, not just like it, I love Chinese food!

Determination

Since I started my learning journey, the updates for this website became slow, and I spent most of my time in school practice. I know that only by studying hard, can we make better articles and recipes for friends who follow us on My Chinese Home Kitchen. I will share my learning experience with you. In order to record my learning journey in school, but also to let everyone see my growth on the road of cooking. I want to share with you every effort I have made to pursue my dreams. I want to share with you the setbacks and defeats I encountered on the way to realize my dream.

Glenn is my partner, friend, and boss. He understands me very well. He supports my studies in school. He hopes that I can succeed. He said that I have chosen an unconventional path for Chinese women. He is proud of me.

My Cooking Teacher

My teacher’s name is Zhu Jinge. He is a 50-year-old male teacher. He has nearly 20 years of cooking experience. He has worked in New Oriental Cooking School for 12 years. He is a senior cooking teacher in this culinary school. Teacher Zhu used to work in restaurants in southern China, so his specialties are Cantonese and Hunan cuisine.

I will write on the My Chinese Home Kitchen some of my experience and thoughts about studying in school. I will share my every progress. At the same time, I will share some recipes I have learned with you. I will mark its author in these recipes, my teacher: Zhu Jinge.
