Today is still the day of cold dishes for warm weather, so we will make a delicious cold tofu dish. This spicy cold tofu is simple and full of flavor. There is a seasoning in this dish that gives this rich flavor: chili oil. This is a seasoning used in most cold dishes, it is not very spicy, but full of aroma. The spice comes from the xiao mi la peppers.
Wash the scallion and peppers. Peel the garlic cloves.

Cut the tofu into 1.5 cm cubes.

Bring enough water to cover the tofu to a boil. Blanch the cubed tofu in the boiling water for 7 to 10 seconds. Drain the tofu in a colander and transfer to a plate.

To prepare the sauce, mix the garlic and xiao mi la peppers with the seasonings. Stir to combine.

Drain the tofu a second time to ensure there is no water on the plate. Then pour the sauce over the tofu, sprinkle with the chopped scallion, and serve.

Choose soft and tender tofu and be careful not to break the tofu.
The taste of this dish is salty and spicy, and you can smell the aroma of the chili oil. If you don't like too spicy, then you can choose milder peppers, such as er jing tiao or chao jian tiao ("facing heaven") peppers.
If you cannot get fresh chilies, you can soak dried peppers in water for 15 to 20 minutes before chopping them.
