Do you like climbing mountains? Low-intensity hiking mountains is an aerobic exercise. According to popular science data, aerobic exercise can improve cardiopulmonary function and enhance muscle strength. When hiking up a mountain, nature’s fresh air helps improve lung function and has a positive impact on our mental health. On the afternoon of June 8th, I went to a famous mountain in Hefei – Dashu Mountain.

Hefei Dashu Mountain National Forest Park
Anhui Province is located in the central region of China. In Anhui, the closer to the north the urban area is, the closer it is to the plain. So, in Hefei, mountains are not common. Among them, Dashu Mountain is located in Shushan District in the west of Hefei, only 10KM away from the city center of Hefei. This is a forest in the city. It is only 284 meters above sea level. It covers an area of 1003.01 hectares. The main part of Dashu Mountain is an overflow-type extinct volcano, and its main component is basic magma. In 2013, the China Forestry Administration approved the establishment of Hefei Dashu Mountain National Forest Park.
Dashu Mountain is not a very high or steep mountain, so you can see many people of different ages climbing the mountain, including children, young people, and the elderly. Some local residents of Hefei will take a walk on the mountain road around Dashu Mountain with a cup of water after dinner.

I have been studying cooking in Hefei for nearly 3 years, and I spent most of my time in school and my apartment. I have rarely explored the city of Hefei. Now that I have graduated, I think I can enjoy and experience the city of Hefei. So let’s start with the forest in this city.
Before I started climbing, I briefly checked some guides. I know there are three ways to get to the top of the mountain. The first is a slightly easier mountain road with a slope. But there is a man-made concrete road surface, so the safety factor is high, but it takes longer to reach the top of the mountain, about 1 hour. The second option is to enter the stairway after hiking a part of the mountain road. This is also a man-made concrete stairway. It is a little tiring and can burn more calories.
Climbing Dashu Mountain on the fall line trail
The third option is a dirt trail developed by previous climbers themselves, a real mountain road, climbing directly up the mountain. The slope is very steep on the dirt trail, there are trees, stones, and broken stumps as obstacles. It is more dangerous, and you need a pair of non-slip hiking shoes to choose this road. Of course, you can also have a fourth option, to explore a path by yourself. There are indeed such adventurers. I will meet adventurers who come out of the grass in the forest during the climb. People who choose to explore new path by themselves need a lot of courage and guts, because in addition to trees and grass in the forest, there are also many small animals hiding in the forest, such as various insects and snakes.
You can guess which way I chose. Since it was my first time exploring this mountain, I wanted to choose the second way, the stairway. But due to some misjudgment on my part, I followed the crowd and then I found myself on the third way. A real mountain trail, with a very steep slope, I guess it was almost 60 degrees, because when I walk on this path, I had to lean forward to maintain my balance. If I don’t control my balance well, then my body may lean back and fall.

View of Hefei from the top of Dashu Mountain
This is the scenery at the top of the mountain. You can see the main urban area of Hefei here. Both the sunrise and sunset are beautiful here. Unfortunately, when I reached the top of the mountain that day, the fog blocked the sunset. It is best to go down the mountain before dark. Because after dark, the temperature drops, and that is the time when the insects in the forest are active.

Nowadays, many people use computers to work and sit for a long time every day, which is not good for our health. When we have time, we should go out of the house, away from the desk and computer, to explore nature, feel nature, and give ourselves some time to relax. Mountain hiking will increase the heart rate. If your body is not suitable for strenuous exercise, please choose a suitable exercise method. Reasonable amount of exercise will relax our body.
