In Traditional Chinese Medicine, these ingredients are all considered “warming” foods. Chinese people prefer hot or warm water to cold water, and when one is sick, he or she is told “drink more hot water.”
Health benefits of red date and ginger tea
Red dates have been recorded and popularized in China for their health-preserving effects. In Chinese medicine, red dates have the effect of replenishing blood, and ginger is considered a “hot” ingredient. When you drink a cup of hot ginger tea after being caught in the rain, you can feel your body gradually warming up, dispelling the “cold” in your body after being caught in the rain. In the same way, when you have menstrual cramps, warming your lower abdomen can effectively relieve cramping and pain.
The health benefits of jujube and ginger are well known to Western medicine as well, including fiber, antioxidants, vitamin C, potassium, and immune boosting properties. Chinese red date and ginger tea is a very healthy drink.
In Chinese medicine, brown sugar also has the effect of replenishing blood. Usually, when you don’t have other ingredients, you only need a portion of brown sugar and brew it with boiling water. A cup of hot brown sugar tea can quickly provide warmth for your menstrual period.
